Facial Reflexology
What is facial reflexology you might ask yourself? Facial reflexology was developed by Buddhist Monks many years ago and was taught in the I Ching. This type of reflexology was a twist from the popular acupuncture that was used in the 1970’s and 80’s. Instead of using needles to reduce pain in certain areas, the Buddhist adapted the hand pressure technique from foot reflexology and applied it to the face.
The face, like Foot Reflexology, has certain points that can be messaged to relieve pain in another part of the body. Tension builds up in your face as well as it does in other areas of your body which no one realizes. Using facial reflexology greatly reduces these pressures in the body and nervous system. By manipulating these points we can have many positive changes in the energy and molecules as well as the cells of a particular organ in other parts of the body.
The success of facial reflexology comes from knowing the symptom as well as the cause, and using the massaging technique to reach specific points of the nervous system. Using these specific pressure points sends impulses to the brain and throughout the rest of your body, or to a distinct part of your body. Facial Reflexology gives a person a real feeling of contentment and calms their anxiety, it helps them relieve any depression that they may feel, and can be soothing enough to actually put them to sleep.
There are fifty-seven reflexology pressure points in a person’s face that can be messaged, by applying direct pressure and messaging around your nose and cheeks, and the top of the head relieves sinus pressure. Other pressure points can help cure a cold, or relieve a migraine headache.
Facial Reflexology promotes responses in your body rapidly, more so than other forms of reflexology, because it works much closer to the brain, which controls the central nervous system. It can be used to treat men, women, and children, using only the therapist hands and a few oils. You can even use facial reflexology on your pets, by just massaging its face, and the animals love it.
There are applications that can be done to relieve over two hundred common problems. It is a fine beginning for an alternative healing path. Although facial reflexology therapy should be done by a qualified practitioner, it is simple enough that even a beginner could use it, provided they knew where the pressure points are. There are many schools that are available for teaching facial reflexology, if any one would be interested in becoming what is termed as a natural healer. By using facial reflexology you are insuring yourself and your pets a healthier life.
